Stalking Jack the Ripper/ A la Caza de Jack el Destripador de Kerri Manicalco

This novel had been on my TBR list for so long as it contains two of my favourite things ever: London and a major mystery. Who is Jack the Ripper?

That´s the question the main character asks herself.Audrey Rose Wadsworth is a young lady living in Victorian London and after the death of her mother decides to disobey her father´s orders and starts studying forensic. Drawn by the murders that are currently taking place in the city, Audrey Rose is caught up in the investigation of one of the most popular murderers of all times: Jack the Ripper.

Stalking Jack the Ripper is an entertaining YA novel that is captivating due to the author´s  remarkable way of narrating. Maniscalco´s descriptive ability introduces de reader into the dark and cold London of the late nineteenth century.

However, in my opinion the plot is a little bit predictable and I discovered who the Ripper was very early, although this could be as a result of me being a mystery novel freak. Nevertheless, the research done by the author is outstanding as she connects the series of events perfectly.

Tenía este libro pendiente desde hace mucho tiempo ya que tiene dos cosas que me encantan: Londres y uno de los mayores misterios del mundo. ¿Quién es Jack el destripador?

Eso se pregunta Audrey Rose Wadsworth, una joven que tras la muerte de su madre, decide rebelarse del destino que le aguarda en la alta sociedad londinense y empezar a estudiar artes forenses con su tío a espaldas de su padre. Atraída por los asesinatos que están ocurriendo, se ve inmersa en la investigación de uno de los mayores asesinos de todos los tiempos: Jack el destripador.

La novela entretiene y se lee muy rápido gracias a la forma de narrar de la autora, quien te mete de lleno en la historia y cuya habilidad descriptiva te adentra en el frio y oscuro Londres. Sin embargo, hay algo que no me ha gustado mucho y es que es bastante predecible y descubrí quien era el asesino muy rápido. Si bien es cierto que yo consumo muchísima novela de misterio y que es posible que sea la razón por lo que lo descubrí pronto. Por lo demás, el trabajo de investigación realizado por la autora es excelente e hila todos los sucesos a la perfección.
